Total Laboratory Automation

Situation

A large pharmaceutical or biomedical company has a laboratory filled with a variety of instruments, some of which may have been automated. The company needs to speed its drug discovery process and increase efficiency. The scientists involved know how they want the process to flow but need assistance in putting the automated process in place.

Total Laboratory Automation LayoutSolution

Let’s Go Robotics assists the company in every step, starting with an analysis and culminating with the delivery of a fully automated system. Our experts begin the project by meeting with client representatives, including both lab techs and scientists, to fully document the environment, process, and project scope. A key deliverable is the implementation plan that specifies milestones, and may recommend a phased approach to get the client to faster payback.

Total Laboratory Automation Isometric DrawingOnce the plan is accepted, Let’s Go Robotics experts begin selecting technology and tying all the components together into a cohesive system that meets the client’s objectives. Regular meetings are held to ensure that the client’s needs are met even if those needs change during the implementation phase.

When implementation is complete, the system is tested in the factory and on-site, training and documentation are provided. If the system is delivered in phases, each workcell is tested and turned over for immediate use by the client. At the end of the project the laboratory is fully automated.

Benefits

The example company gains many clear benefits from total laboratory automation:

  • Accelerate R&D
  • Eliminate human errors
  • Track and screen high volumes of samples
  • Reduce labor costs
  • Increase accuracy
  • Operate fully automated "closed" systems
  • Autoverification
  • Eliminate contamination
  • Speed specimen retrieval
  • Improve process throughput
